Symptoms Of Bronchitis
There are so many respiratory diseases in prevalence. A respiratory
disease may have a great impact on our day-to-day activities. It may irritate
to such an extent, that you may not be able to do the job owing to the
difficulty in breathing and deprivation of the necessary oxygen. One such
respiratory illness is bronchitis. It has been considered one of the most
common respiratory diseases, which can affect anyone irrespective of age,
season and sex.
But bronchitis most commonly occurs during the winter months. In addition,
people affected with such respiratory illnesses are mostly the ones who
live in areas, which are highly polluted like in big cities. People who
have weak lungs are also more prone to this illness. Though bronchitis
can affect anyone, it mostly occurs in children, especially infants, and
older people.
There are tow basic types of
bronchitis, namely the acute and the chronic. Acute
lasts only for a maximum of 10-12 days if the disease is taken proper
care of and treated immediately, whereas chronic can last for several
months.
Acute bronchitis may be because of a viral or bacterial infection. Still
it can also be caused by fungal infections and mycoplasma infections but
very rare incidences. If you just go through the signs of acute bronchitis,
you may easily feel if you possess it. The most commonly occurring symptoms
and signs are as follows.
· Mild fever
· Light chest pain
· Shortness in breath
· Wheezing trouble
· Persistent coughing
· Chillness
· Throat pain
· Vibrations in chest during breathing
· Painful as well as squeezing sensation near the eyes
You can just say if you have bronchitis, but you can never identify if
it is due to viral or bacterial infection. You must consult a doctor for
that purpose and do not take decision on your own. Only through laboratory
tests, you can determine the causative agent.
Chronic bronchitis
is a long-term recurring illness, which needs more medical attention.
The main causative agents include the external irritants like toxic fumes,
cigarette smoke, pollen, chemical substances, etc that are inhaled in
normal breathing. This may lead to a permanent damage to your respiratory
system, which may affect your daily life in turn. The duration that chronic
bronchitis can prolong may be between 3 months and two continuous years.
The patient may seem to recover, but if you atop taking the medications,
it may reoccur at regular intervals. This hence needs the patient to be
under medication for a long term until the doctor decides. Stop smoking
for your own good and avoid polluted areas as much as possible. You also
may employ the various treatment methods of acute bronchitis.
The next factor you need to account is hygiene. Always wash your hands,
take proper rest, consume nutritious foods regularly and drink more fluids.
In case you doubt the existence of the disease, take immediate action
to prevent any further complications.
